The Lord gave a vision.  That vision was of a church.  He wanted B.D.Bohannan to build; the vision included a life he wanted rebuilt around the church.  Nurtured by prayer, faith, and love, that in time became a reality.  "....where there is no vision, my people will perish."  Proverbs 29:18

Many hours were spent in prayer as Brother Bo inquired of the Lord, where the Lord began to impress upon him, "I want a church where people of all faiths and different backgrounds can find a place of refuge....people that have been abandoned by other churches....people that need my special love."

With money he had saved for a down payment, he purchased a plot of land and began to dig the foundation.  A few days later as he was digging, a man came by and began asking questions.  He said he had heard there was a crazy man building a church without any members.  Brother Bo replied, "Yes sir, the Lord told me to build a church and with His help, we are going to do it."  While he prayed and wondered where finances would come from, the man returned the next day with a $100 check.

Many people throughout the years have found the Open Door Fellowship ready to accept them no matter who they are or what they have done.  We don't believe Jesus closes the door on anyone.  He never gives up, neither should we.  We strive to continue the vision that was placed over 40 years ago.
